Air springs ensure excellent structure-borne sound insulation

Suspension systems using air springs such as those from G+H Noise Control’s LFG range, provide highly effective vibration isolation and structure-borne sound insulation. By using pneumatic spring bearings as vibration-isolated supports for machines and plant, the transfer of impact-type and periodic forces can be substantially reduced.

Air springs from the LFG range significantly reduce the transfer of impact-type and periodic forces. With these air springs, G+H Noise Control offers its customers numerous advantages with regard to sound protection, such as a practically constant natural frequency (regardless of the loading), variable horizontal spring characteristics over a wide range, and excellent insulation of structure-borne sound. These characteristics make the air springs ideal for use as vibration-isolated bearings for test rigs, for example.

The design and properties of the air springs

The air springs comprise a cover plate and piston made of cast aluminum, and a rolling lobe air spring with a molded-in wire belt. The LFG range is also notable for its operating temperature range of -40°C to +70°C, its resistance to oil-contaminated compressed air, chemically non-aggressive dust and dirt, and alkaline and acidic cleaning agents. On top of this, the air springs are resistant to weathering. With the optional additional volume, a vertical natural frequency as low as 0.7 Hz and adjustable vertical natural frequencies are also possible. The additional volume also increases the damping effect. A mechanical or electronic height regulation system is used to ensure that the height remains constant despite fluctuating loads.
