Hitachi Energy visits our Acoustic Competence Centre

On Wednesday, 18 February, the Acoustic Competence Centre (ACC) welcomed a 15-member delegation of experts from Hitachi Energy. The engineers and technical managers, as well as the purchasing department responsible for the grid integration of substations, visited the ACC as part of their regular meeting in Maxdorf near Mannheim.

Led by Kai Brochhagen (Head of Industrial Noise Control) and Fabian Kreuch (Project Manager Noise Control), the guests were given a comprehensive insight into state-of-the-art acoustic technology and all the services offered by the ACC, including:

  • Half-space (HAR) with flat absorbers for precise measurements down to the lowest frequencies
  • Certified anechoic full space for sound power determination
  • Test benches for sound insulation and absorption coefficient
  • Silencing ducts and impedance pipes

Illustrative experiments – such as the impressive flame tube experiment – gave visitors a visual experience of acoustics and showed what sound waves can do. They were even able to carry out their own measurements in the anechoic full room to determine sound power.

In addition, experts from our Building Solutions network presented the wide range of services offered by our partner companies. Gerhard Lutz (SKE), Rolf-Uwe Lagrange (Gebäude.Technik) and Michael Palzkill (Ingenieurbüro Genest) showed how we work together to develop comprehensive solutions for industry, power plant and building technology – from sound insulation, electrical, heating, cooling, air conditioning and ventilation technology to fire protection and measurement and control technology. Our wide range of services is rounded off by reliable maintenance and repair services that ensure long-term operation.
